Science Fair

Yesterday was Mapleton Elementary's Science Fair. Kaylee and I have been working on her project for the last couple of weeks. She decided she wanted to grow sugar crystals. It's a good thing we started early because while the instructions said it only takes a week, it really took over two to get any good crystals growing. Kaylee did a great job and had fun doing her project. I was really disapointed by the Science Fair though. There were only about 10 entires from the entire school. It would have been nice if they had made a bigger deal out of it. They had an open house for an hour after school so parents and students could see what everyone did. There were about 6 people there. Kaylee was disapointed that the classes didn't go in to see it during the day. Anyway, she had fun and wants to do it again next year so that's what's important.

Gymnastics

So I signed Kara up for gymnastics at the city center and tried to sign Andrew up for the same class (because really, who wants to sit through two classes) but they wouldn't let me because he wasn't three yet. So the first class he had to sit and watch. Not much fun. But then they called us and said that Kara's class was too big so they were starting a new one. I asked if Andrew could join the class because he turned 3 like, two days later and they said yes! So here are some fun gymnastics pics.

Kara is the oldest in the class so the teacher has her do more difficult things, such as walking backward on the balance beam. Andrew is the youngest so I have to stay by him to help. It's a pretty informal class, mostly just to learn basics, have fun, and get moving. This is Andrew's favorite- the bear walk on the bars.

Kara does something harder. I don't remember what it's called.
